This sketch was created with copic markers and colored pencils, all while sitting in a cafe. What was done fairly quickly has actually become my new guidepost for the direction I am moving my art in. I want to refine this sketch and turn it into a large scale, polished painting. It will be a part of a whole new body of work.
A mermaid for MerMay 2019 on instagram. The paper could barely hold up to the abuse I put it through, and some mistakes led to unfortunate tangents. Luckily I took a photo of the clean colored pencil lines before painting. (see below) Still, it was fun and I absolutely adore her patterned, multi-colored scales.
